OUR BELIEFS
Statement of Faith:
I. The Trinity
We believe that God eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and each person is fully God, and there is one God.
John 1:1-3, John 17:24, Genesis 1:26, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19.
II. God the Son
We believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, eternally begotten not made and conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ’s Godhead and Manhood, two whole and perfect natures, were joined together in one person, whereof is one Christ, very God and very man. We believe in His perfect sinless life, His miracles, His teachings and His substitutionary and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension into heaven, His intercession for the saints, His powerful and visible return that is to come, where He will judge the living and the dead for His kingdom shall have no end.
John 20:30-31; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:1-14; 3:16-17; Galatians 4:4; Philippians 2:5-11.
III. God the Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit who has come into the world to bring conviction and to reveal the need of faith in Jesus Christ the Son of God. We believe that He indwells, comforts, teaches, guides, empowers and gives gifts of service to all who believe, and thus leads the saints of God into all truth.
· John 16:5-15; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12-14; Galatians 5:16-25.
IV. The Holy Scriptures
We believe in the Holy Bible consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, as the inspired and preserved Word of God that is authoritative as the Holy Spirit leads and guides us in faith and practice.
2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20; John 14:26; John 16:13.
V. The Church
We Believe the church is a communio sanctorum (community of saints) the community of those that believe in and are sanctified in Christ, and who are joined to Him as their head. The church is both invisible and visible, local yet universal, and it exists for the maintenance of true worship, the edification and equipping of the saints, and to evangelize the world through the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Matthew 16;16-21, 28:16; Acts 1-3; Ephesians 1:22-23;
VI. Humankind
We believe every human being is made in the image of God. Although through the sin of Adam and Eve we are born into sin, we believe that every person is valuable and is able to come to salvation not on his own but by grace through faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Genesis 1:26-31; Romans 3:23-26, 5:12-19; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Ephesians 2:8.
VII. Salvation
We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, who lived a perfect and sinless life and became the propitiation for our sins by dying on the cross. He was buried, arose from the grave on the third day, ascended to heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father. Our security of eternal life is found in Him for His salvation redeems us from spiritual death and the penalty of sin in this life and the next. He did this for all who repent, obey and confess that He, Jesus Christ, is Lord. We believe that at salvation we are baptized into one (i.e. His) body by one Spirit.
1 Corinthians 15:1-8; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 1:16, 10:9-13; John 3:1-21.
VIII. Ordinances
We believe in and hold to two ordinances (1) Baptism, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, (2) and the Lord’s Supper. We believe these to be essential because Christ commanded them to be done, practiced them with His disciples, and they were carried out and taught on by the Apostles. These sacraments/ordinances are symbols of the Christians profession in Christ and God’s love towards us. They are means of grace (for edification) by which God works invisibly in us, quickening, strengthening, and confirming our faith in Him.
Matthew 28:18-20; Mark 14:22-25; 1 Corinthians 11:23-34.
VIV. The Filling of the Holy Spirit.
We believe that every Christian receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit at salvation. We believe it is the calling of all Christians to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. Evidence of such filling of the Holy Spirit is not limited to outward manifestations of speaking in tongues, prophecy, interpretation of tongues, dreams and visions; but is seen in and tested through the inward manifestations of the fruit of the Spirit (viz. fruit as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control). We believe such means of expression and work of the Holy Spirit should not be hindered according to the Bible and that the Holy Spirit is working such inward and outward manifestations on whomever He so chooses in this dispensation (and will continue until the return of Christ) as in prior dispensations.
Acts 2:11; Galatians 5:22; Romans 12:9-13; 1 Corinthians 14:1; 39-40. Eph 5:18.
Core Values that we embrace at Trinity Gospel Church
1. Jesus is the Reason:
Jesus is the central focus of every ministry and teaching at TGC ALIVE. We are a Gospel driven church with a desire to help others build an active, growing, reproducing relationship with Christ. (Matt 5:17, Luke 24:27, John 5:39, Hebrews 1:1-4,)
2. Genuine Worship and Praise:
We desire that our corporate worship should reflect worshipers who seek to praise the Father in heaven in both Spirit and in truth. Our main priority is to worship God and reflect His will in all that we do. (John 4:24, Matt 21:16, Hebrews 13:15).
3. Freewill:
We embrace God’s sovereignty and His knowledge of all things past, present, and future. We believe it is God’s means of grace and mercy that draws man to faith and understanding. Inasmuch, we believe that man has freewill within this magnitude of God’s sovereignty and grace. (2 Timothy 4:7, Romans 12:1-2).
4. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit:
Allowing the Holy Spirit to have His way in our lives (both corporately and personally) is an important facet at Trinity Gospel Church. We recognize the ministry of the Holy Spirit through the gifts He imparts and the fruit He produces in us. We desire to never quench the Spirit of God whether in worship or instruction. (1 Cor 12, Gal 5:22-25).
5. Fellowship and Partnership:
We believe fellowship is essential for healthy spiritual growth and should not be forsaken. It is our desire to support of the Kingdom of God both locally and globally. Therefore, we believe with guidance of T.G.C. leadership, God has called us to be open to partnership with other Christians and ministries outside of our personal community for the furtherance of the Gospel and edification of the saints. (1 Cor 1:9-10, Romans 12:18, 1 Cor 12:12).
6. Discipleship and Training:
Discipleship is a core value at Trinity Gospel Church, and we strive to help guide and protect the saints both young and old, through the instruction of the word, impartation, and by helping them grow in their ministry and service unto Jesus Christ. (Matt 28:19-20, Romans 1:11, Colossians 1:28).
7. Ministry Excellence and Joy:
As our Father in heaven in perfect the standard of excellence begins with Him. It is our desire to take delight in reflecting our Father and heaven through excellence in our ministry. Such excellence should be seen not only in our worship but in our stewardship, mentoring, service and love for others. (Matt 2:48, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Cor 10:31, 1 Peter 1:8-9).
8. Reformation:
(Semper Reformanda) All though God’s truth never changes we know we must be willing to grow in our understanding and approach to living such truth. Illumination is the key to our growth as the Holy Spirit leads. (2 Timothy 2:7, Galatians 1:6-9).
9. Walking in Faith:
We live by faith and not by sight at Trinity Gospel Church. It is our desire that we deny our doubts and stir up our faith in Christ. It is by faith that we make our decisions and in faith that we place our confidence for things hoped for and things to come. (Hebrews 11:1 James 2:14-18)
